Ok ok - so once again, I didn't fully complete my New Years resolution from 2012. I'll blame it on being side tracked with this whole marathon training business.
So will that stop me from making resolutions for 2013? Heck no!
This year's resolutions are a little different. It is nothing I have to do everyday, but rather a few things I want to have accomplished by the end of the year
1. To have a garden - growing veggies, herbs, and maybe some strawberries
2. Start vermicomposting. If you are thinking that is composting with worms then you would be correct. Yeah worms. My Aunt Rena will be excited by this :) it will make great soil for my garden.
3. If possible depending on where I live starting in July - have chickens!
So there you have it. Most of these things will have to wait until the 2nd half of the year, seeing as I'll be moving in July.

The and more part
MARATHON IS TOMORROW
I can't believe that it is finally here. After all the training - the question remains "am I ready?"
You bet I am.
Remember the goal is to finish. No fancy time goal for me. Just survive the 26.2 miles.
My mom, Sarah, and I all flew into Orlando last night.
The weather for tomorrow? High of 81 degrees with 88% humidity
RunDisney has put out a heat warning for runners tomorrow - telling us to stay hydrated, drink often, and ask for help early if needed. They even say this is likely not the marathon for your best time.
I've been training in 50-60 degree weather mainly with little humidity. The last time i ran in tucson in like 64 degree heat in the middle of the day I could have sworn it was 90 degrees out and I was sweating up a storm. Welcome humidity - I was a sweaty mess just walking out of the airport last night.
My plan is at every aid station I will douse myself in water as well as drink and walk when necessary. I always get a short walk every 3 miles because that is snackie time. I eat very frequently when out on my long runs - its my attempt to ward off the dreaded "wall" and it usually helps me function slightly better after my long runs. I'm pretty sure there will be no functioning after tomorrow's run!
The longest run I have ran so far is 18 miles. That means I will have 8 more miles to go.
In my book - one woman approached it like this: she ran the last 8 likes first. After 8 miles she did a little stretch, rubbed her feet, and then went out for her "long run" for the week. A 18 miler. That's my minds set. Get the last 8 out of the way first and I know my body can run 18. It's done it before.
The other thing that runners do is play mental games or repeating things over and over to themselves while on the run.
Some dedicate each mile to a special person in their life.
Some focus on one body part and then move onto another.
Sarah likes to keep a certain pace until that tree, or garbage can, or what not and then sets her target further down
I often repeat things to myself - "just keep running, just keep running" like Dora from Finding Nemo - "just keep swimming, just keep swimming"
Sometimes I count my steps trying to get to 100 - I usually do this on a treadmill
My book had us early on write a little phrase that we would use as a mental tool during any run. It is a positive little phrase to help us through. I have used my phrase too many times to count and I know I will be using it tomorrow.
"This is who I am. I am a marathoner. Four times per week I run. I run for me, my mind, body, and soul. Because of this - I am stronger. I am not tired. I am adapting and become something, someone better. I WILL finish. I ALWAYS finish."
Below are some photos throughout training. Not sure what order they will load as I am doing writing this post on my iPad. As you can tell - there were good days and bad days. Thankfully- more good ones though! :)
